1. Web browser market massive perceptual fluctuation
What is the mainstream web browser?
Which do you enjoy using, PC or mobile when you surf the web? And what's your favorite browser?
For the know-how seller, I use three kinds of web browsers: Chrome, Whale, and Opera. For web surfing, search and work on Naver such as Chrome and Naver blogs, I use opera for personal reference. In other words, although I didn't tell anyone, I found out when I posted it while using it, but I'm making the most of the advantages of each web browser.
Some people are so used to writing now that they forget what they write, while others like me are constantly trying new web browsers for a better web experience. In this posting, we will compare the overall ranking of web browsers with the guaranteed points of each browser and look at the prospects of web browsers, including the pros and cons of domestic web browser, the web browser, and the Pandobrowser, which may break the landscape of Pandobrowser.
2. Web browser market massive perceptual fluctuation
According to global market research firm Stat Counter, as of March 2020, Chrome topped the list with 64.1%, followed by Safari with 17.7% and Firefox with 4.6%. Before further analysis, let's start with the trend of web browser usage over the last decade, both worldwide and across devices.
Chrome's Growth and the End of the IE Era
What's most noticeable is Chrome's rapid growth and the other end of the Internet Explorer (IE) era on the other side. Chrome leads the market with an overwhelming 64% share. On the contrary, IE has only a 1.7% share, which clearly shows that it is now disappearing into the back of history. Instead, Microsoft recently announced a completely transformed version of its next browser, Edge, based on chromium. It's interesting to see if we can recreate the past glory that IE has achieved.
The Cross between Firefox and Safari
Another thing that stands out is Firefox and Safari. Firefox was once a sensation, but now it's down to 4 percent, with many error issues, limited scalability, and ultimately not exceeding Chrome. On the contrary, the steady rise in safari is noticeable. It still maintains its dominant position by taking 18% of the market share.
3. Web browser share – based on desktop
Domestic: Chromium >> IE >Edge > Whale
Chrome is now becoming the primary browser for web surfing, accounting for 70%. On the other hand, IE is getting lower, but it's still higher by global standards. The reason is that public institutions and financial websites are still used as major browsers. The Edge, which is the successor to IE, is behind it, but it is still at around 5%. The use of a chromium-based Whale browser produced by Naver is also noticeable. It's assumed to be the effect of aggressive marketing recently. Attention is focusing on whether or not a domestic browser will be established in the future.
Global: Chromium >> Firefox > Safari > Edge
4. Web browser share – mobile basis
Domestic: Chrome > Samsung Internet > Safari > Whale
Chrome has a high share of mobile phones, but it doesn't take up the majority with about 40%. Because there are far more users of Samsung Galaxy smartphones in the domestic market, Samsung Internet (Samsung Internet), a basic browser, is easily accessible. The safari in the mobile environment, like the global one, could soon be referred to as an iPhone user. With a 19% share, you can still guess the impact of the iPhone. Welsh browsers followed. The market share has been steadily increasing since the release of the mobile version in April 2018.
Global: Chrome> Safari>Samsung Internet>UC Browser
Chrome is leading with a 65% share, and safari is another axis with 25%. The topography of the mobile browser market can be drawn from the fact that the Samsung Internet, represented by the Samsung Galaxy, and the UC browser of China's Alibaba Group are taking over.
6. Leap of Domestic Web Browser Whale
Whale's leap
The Web browser industry has been dominated by foreign companies for decades. However, the domestic web browser 'Whale' set a meaningful market share of 4.4% in March. That's why the industry's attention is focused on the way we're going. However, there are many opinions that 4.4% or more will be difficult. This is because the impact of the first-in-command "chrome" is so strong, and Whale itself has its inherent limitations of being made based on chrome.
Whale's strengths and weaknesses
What is the secret to the rapid popularity of Whale? In the industry, the convenience of the Whale is the biggest strength. A typical function is 'screen division'. When I surf the Internet, I often have to display several web pages together. While existing web browsers need to be clicked to switch screens, Whale supports screen division, allowing users to view web pages at a glance.
Before using the Whale, the Knowhowseller used to work in Windows 10 functions by typing the window key and arrow left and right, and split the screen into two. But after using the web, I don't have to do this, but I'm working on the web screen. It's a very convenient feature.
Click Show Split in the upper-right corner to display on the web. Then you'll see the screen as shown in the picture below.
And if you open the link in the left-to-right space, you'll see the screen below on the right split screen.
If you want to search for another site, please click on the address or frequently visited site above and search for what you need and use. If you use it like this when you write a blog like me, you will be able to work on it more easily.
We've also added a variety of features that are often used in everyday life. Above all, 'sidebar' was created on one side of the web browser so that it could utilize functions such as calculator, exchange rate, dictionary, etc. Also drawing attention was the introduction of Naver's unique artificial intelligence (AI) translation service, Papago. Without a separate translation program, we could easily access our online content in Whale.
We also spare no effort to reflect users' opinions quickly. Naver has created a 'Whale Research Institute' site to provide a space for users to give feedback. So far, 23,000 user opinions have been received, and based on this, we are actively improving the service. On top of that, we can't ignore the fact that Naver, Korea's largest platform, is firing support shots.
Whale's Limit
But it's not just the market that we have to cross. We have a lot of technical issues to deal with. More than anything else, the Web, built on Chrome's engine (chromium) unveiled by Google, still has the chronic problem of Chrome.
A typical example is 'high memory share'. Many users at the Whale Institute point out that "the memory share is too high to slow down the PC." The downside is that updates are slow for the same reason. Even if the Chrome engine is replaced with the latest version, the web will be relatively slower than Chrome.
Meanwhile, Naver is also trying to find its own breakthrough. In April, Naver joined hands with 'Hangul and Computer' to sign an agreement to install 'Hangul Viewer' on the web. Now, you can open the Korean document file in Whale without a separate program. On May 8, he announced plans to create a 'browser certificate' service with the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute. With this service, Welsh alone can easily access financial institutions or public services. We are trying to increase the number of users by maximizing the convenience of the Way.
5. Will it be broken by PANDORBROWSER?
Pandobrowser is an alternative to Web browsers.
IT technology is not perfect. I think it's an industry that's trying to get closer to perfection, and right now, the market for web browsers is definitely limited by second-generation browsers. To overcome these limitations, however, there is a limit to solving problems without changing the existing paradigm. You can overcome these limitations by solving problems with a new paradigm. In that sense, attention is being paid to whether the third-generation browser, Pandobrowser, can be an alternative. I'm looking forward to seeing the day when Korean Pando browsers will dominate the world, breaking the web browser landscape. Please refer to how to use the Pando Browser and the manual as we have linked it to the contents below.
